Yippee!

Who wants a short, character driven, obscure Nocenti story? I do. I hope it focuses on Six or something crazy. Or the Fat Boys. Nocenti writing DD! Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

Wow, that was unexpected. Who could've thought! Ann Nocenti writing DD in 2009, out of the blue.
It would be interesting if her story actually fit the current storyline.

HOLY CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST!!!

Shocked Ann Nocenti!!! Shocked Writing on DD again!!! Even with it being presumably a short story, this is very unexpected, very good news!! This news amplifies my excitement for the upcoming issue... with the certainty of Ed Brubaker and Michael Lark bringing their "A-game" to end their arc and their very, very solid run on the title, as abbreiviated as it may appear.

Wow!!

This may prove to be we-eeellll worth the wait.

I am as giddy as a little school girl.

Very, very good news!!

Only one question remains: who will be the artist with Andy Diggle, beginning with the following #501 (Tom Coker, from "Daredevil: Noir" anyone? --THAT might be the proverbial grandslam in all of this, but us Daredevil fans aren't greedy, are we? Twisted Evil )? ...but that's for another time, perhaps, isn't it?...

But, Ann Nocenti??! Holy Neil Gaiman, Batman!!

Ann Nocenti ? Ann Nocenti writing on DD again ? That's so great, she's one of my favorite writer Very Happy Ann Nocenti, the title returning to the old numbering, there are only good news (well, excepts that it's the end of Ed Brubaker and Michael Lark on the title Crying or Very sad )

I am excited for this!!!

Although, I don't understand why every other Marvel title that has recently hit a milestone number; Captain America #600, Hulk #600, and Spider-man #600, all have received the multiple cover treatment and had at least one, mainly the Alex Ross version, released as a poster. I don't get it. They blew it by not releasing a poster of #100 and now with #500 as well?!?

I want a Daredevil poster Marvel!! Very Happy

Who is with me on this?

Kevin

Well, I'm excited about the huge page count, and must admit I'm quite curious about what Nocenti might bring to the table twenty years later (I'm expecting something much less pretentious than her previous work), and I'm expecting that I'll like it. I doubt very much her story will fit with the bigger events of the arc though. Unless it takes place in the middle of the issue and features Matt blacked out after a blow to the head and taking a trip back to hell. Wink

I wouldn't expect too hard. I think Nocenti is still an editor at High Times and the last comic I read of hers (a Batman one shot that came out a couple years ago) had a heavy environmentalist slant. Therefore I'm fully expecting/hoping that she's just as "pretentious" (read: awesome) as she always was.

It would be a shame if she cooled/dumbed down in her old age.

Don't want to turn this into a thing, but what I found pretentious about her style had very little to do with the subject matters she touched on, but more with how this content was packaged. I prefer subtle, which I think is an even better way of getting a message across. Just accept that my "beef" with Nocenti's writing (and I'm sure she's a nice person and all that), is not for the reasons you suggest here and have in the past. Peace.

I think Nocenti left High Times a few years ago. She's currently doing a lot of film work and did a documentary on Baluchistan (yeah, I had to look it up too). She recently went to Haiti to teach film making as well. Daredevil has had a lot of awesome writers, and I'm glad to say that Nocenti ranks up there as one of my favourite people to interview.

Had to check out that Baluchistan bit and found it really interesting. Here's an article by Nocenti on this topic (http://www.brooklynrail.org/2006/12/express/letter-from-baluchistan) and the documentary is on YouTube as it turns out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQyyyM0-KSE.

Hey, if you don't want to start a thing don't casually throw around insults at writers other people respect. You have a weird habit of saying really offensive things either about artists you don't seem to like or about other posters' opinions and then taking massive offense when someone (usually me) calls you out on it.

Also, you may want to look up "pretentious" because it is not the opposite of "subtle".

That said, if you simply mispoke and I jumped to conclusions I apologize. It's just that conservatives are rarely if ever called "pretentious" (of course they are pretentious (among other things) but the insult (and it is an insult) is almost exclusively reserved for those who pratle on about rights and stuff). That combined with the implication that Nocenti has probably grown out of this "pretentiousness" (on what other basis would you "expect" her work to be "much" different?) suggested a slam on her politics. I've never heard of anyone getting more liberal as they age.

Anyway, if it was just a misunderstanding and you were just saying that Nocenti was "not subtle" (i.e. obvious) then I agree.

I think this looks great, but I expect the Nocenti is a reprint. See that little 'new and reprint' in the solicit? Sorry.....hope I'm wrong.

P.S. I'm back. As I have learned, I just can't stop reading DD. Damn it! I was so close to completing my Brubaker run, what could I do but keep buying the last few (which have been great)? And this creative team change has me stoked! Just for something different, I don't know squat about Diggle......

word.

Nocenti's story is new. Trust me. Smile
