So who would be best to take on DD? My Top 5!
5. Edward Zwick, with a movie like Blood Diamond. No doubt the director can handle action films really well. But what movie of his made me think he is a nice fit to DD? The Last Samurai.
4. Paul Greengrass, he took over the Bourne series with The Bourne Supremacy. And in that film, Karl Urban's Kirill was so Bullseye! Only less crazy.
3. Doug Liman, director of The Bourne Identity. But his other film is Mr and Mrs Smith. Imagine what he could do to a DD and Elektra fight scene!
2. Peter Berg, actor and director Peter Berg directed the awesome film The Kingdom, and also Hancock, so he is no stranger to superheroes.
1. Timur Bekmambetov, who?!? Director of Wanted. I actually want to steer clear of any director who has done a comic book movie or is going to do a comic book movie, that's why Casino Royale helmer Martin Campbell is not on the list, for he is doing The Green Lantern, but Timur Bekmambetov is just too good a director to pass. Enough said! Just watch the movie Wanted.
So guys, who is your pick for the next 'fearless' director?
Oh, and ain't it funny that Foggy directed Iron Man? _________________ "I'm only a DEVIL to those who are demonic." |

I'd go for Jon Favreau to direct a DD movie. He hit it out of the park with Iron Man, and he's got several other movies under his directorial belt. He gets comic book movies. I'd like him to direct because he could bring a much needed light touch in the right moments to an otherwise dark character. _________________ Alice

What? No Frank Miller? Kevin Smith?
Seriously though...nice list. Too bad Campbell signed on for a cape film with Lantern already. Although since I really love the Green Lantern and rate Casino Royale as one of the best Bonds ever, I am pretty excited about that one too.
In fantasy producer land...I would love to see what Tarantino or Rodriguez could do with Marvel characters? Eastwood understands quiet strength heroics...that would be something. Spike Jonze, Aronofsky, Guy Ritchie....obviously would be taking huge risks and have to give up some control and limit their styles...but if they could do it, I would really be interested to see how it turned out.
There are a lot of good young directors out there that would fit the DD mold. |

What about David Fincher? Talk about "visionaries." The tone of films like Se7en, Zodiac and Fight Club could definitely work within the Daredevil Universe. Dark, gritty...perfect. Plus he did that curious little film about that Benjamin Button fella. Would he be interested in a comic book movie? No idea..but he would do one well I believe. |

If they go with anything to do with Bendis's stories, they can't go wrong with David Mamet. Or at least get him to write it. _________________ Kuljit Mithra

I AM SO DAFT!!!! How I missed out on putting QT in my list is beyond me. After seeing Inglorious Basterds and reviewing the two Kill Bill movies. I would kill for Tarantino to direct a DD film! _________________ "I'm only a DEVIL to those who are demonic." |

I've wanted a QT directed superhero flick (DD in particular) for a long time. In a recent interview however, he said he probably wouldn't do a film in this genre (preferring to go against the grain of what's hot right now).
The next best thing in my opinion would be Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Desperado, the up-coming Predators). I'd also LOVE to see a David Fincher DD movie. _________________ Andrew |

I for one wouldn't want Tarantino anywhere near a DD movie. Honestly, I'm a huge QT fan but his work just doesn't jar well with the superhero genre. What I mean is this - QT films work so well because he imbues them with his own unique brand and identity - something that may not work well with an adaptation of a comicbook seeing as how the director would have to balance between the demands of being "faithful" to the original source material and being innovative enough. QT wouldn't work well within those constraints - he's too individualistic a filmmaker to do that.
It's the same thing with Ang Lee on "Hulk". The result is a piece of oddity that was neither here nor there.

I liked the first Hulk movie but it's true that is because I like Ang Lee work, not because he was the perfect director for Hulk.
And I agree Tarantino and DD is not the best mix, but surely it would be extremely interesting!
And how about the wachowski brothers? they are the perfect directors for an action movie! and also they would know how give a dark a atmosphere as in some scenes of Matrix (the first one, the best)
(by the way, another fail in the first DD movie are the fights... after watching Matrix...well...) |

In my opinion, the reason the Batman films sucked after Batman Returns is that Schumacher was trying to copy the quirkiness present in all Tim Burton movies. Burton was able to direct a superhero movie in his own style. And if you watch Memento, The Prestige, and Nolan's other films. You would know that he did not pass on his artistic integrity. QT is too much a genius to not go by with what people expect from a superhero movie or a QT movie. _________________ "I'm only a DEVIL to those who are demonic." |

I see QT as more of a Power Man and Iron Fist kind of guy. |
