Full color preview is now up (I waited as long as I could to officially post it, but a site jumped the gun anyway):

This thread will also be used for discussion when the issue comes out December 16. _________________ Kuljit Mithra

And here is the CBR Review: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=user_review&id=1671
They gave it 4 stars out of 5. "This is a handsome looking book, the kind you'll want to eventually have on your bookshelf for years to come." _________________ Andrew |

Even though de le Torre receives help on art duties for this issue, he still does the majority artistry, right? |

I am still a bit unsure of this new direction. It seems like another fill in issue where nothing really new is revealed or resolved and I am not sure exactly where it is going. It has lingered since the LIST special....lacking a much needed "freshness"....however I am of course reserving any definitive judgment in hopes of a big payoff. The Kingpin thing we knew was being set in motion, no need to explain it out at the end. The "dirty" cops thing seems worn and the hari kari Hand soldier a bit forced. Plus, what was IZO doing just hanging out? Not much of a hiding spot to begin with. The Hand follows DD as an almost deity but don't wonder where he sneaks off to all the time? |

Yes, although the transitions between the two are obvious (but not really jarring mind you). _________________ Andrew |

I like how the storyline is going. I can't wait to find out the answer to Izo's question. _________________ "I'm only a DEVIL to those who are demonic." |

Hmm. Well, maybe this is just me then, but I feel the artwork actually was a bit jarring, for lack of a better term.
The artwork on DD#502, I felt, was exceptional. The synergy with De La Torre's Art and Hollingsworth's colors was dynamic. The assistant artist in #503 (the name escapes me at the moment) handles the duties on scenes that were a bit flacid dramatically in the story (essentially scenes of exposition), which I felt had a hand in my feeling of there deing a bit of a division between the two styles.
The art as a whole felt like it took a step back, after such a phenomenal visual specimen that #502 ended up being. Even Matt's ussually great colors appeared slightly less vivid (but even his average work is better than a lot of other coloring efforts in my opinion). The art as a whole sagged a bit in this issue.
The strongest part of the entire issue was the writing of Andy Diggle (even if it continues to feel like he is feeling out the whole of the Daredevil mythology and the situation in which he was given from Ed Brubaker). Still, it feels a bit off.
That said, I think I've made an observation. Most (recent) Daredevil writers, Bendis to Brubaker, Miller to Chichester, had written compelling internal dialogue for Matt Murdock. However, Andy Diggle had strayed from this, outside of the singular dream sequence in #502. With the combination of the unfamiliar situation of Matt leading the Hand and the lack of internal dialogue of our hero, this title feels a bit different than the Daredevil I've read in recent memory. |

Why is the Kingpin working with LadyBullseye after she slaughtered his family in Europe or wherever he was? I might have missed something. |

Kingpin simply doesn't care about revenge for them. Right after they were killed, he went back to being the ruthless Kingpin he's always been. Cold, detached, driven by ambition.
Lady Bullseye has lost everything. Betrayed by Izo, banished by the Hand's leaders, her thunder stolen by the nemesis she herself had chosen for her.
Kingpin needs Lady Bullseye to have a loyal, deadly bodyguard (who, as a bonus, hates his archenemy) to kickstart his climb to power, Lady Bullseye needs Kingpin to give her a new purpose. Theirs is a symbiontic relationship. |
