Just since I have seen many people asking about how names or other Japanese phrases are pronounced.
The Japanese language is totally phonetic which means reading it is easy if you just know the trick.
Every two letters is a syllable Unless it is a vowel is on its own or the letter n when it is at the end of a word.
The consonants are the same as the most common English pronunciation and the vowels always have the same sound wherever they come in a word.
a is pronounced as AH
i is a long E sound
u is pronounced as OO
e is pronounced as EH
o is a long O sound
Some of the time the vowels are dropped when speaking the words but that is very specific. ku is often only heard as k and su has the same problem sometimes. It is a very specific thing.
I think that should be helpful. Sorry if I just wasted your time. |

Not a waste, that is helpful. Also, I've learned Korean is similar in that it's phonetic. Makes it easy to learn pronunciation. _________________ Andrew |
