"They're the Hand. Ninja assassins. Elektra's their leader and she -- I think they're helping him. They're using some dark arts. Ninja --" - The Black Widow, desperately attempting to reassure a horror-stricken Milla in Daredevil Volume #2 #80
In the aforementioned Daredevil Volume #2 #80, a mortally wounded Matt Murdock is revived by The Hand. Not surprisingly, Matt Murdock has been becoming increasingly unhinged ever since. Readers have attributed Matt's recent frailty and volatility to the traumatic events in his life (his unfortunate imprisonment, Milla being placed in a house of bedlam, etc., etc.). But what if it's not? What if the "dark arts" that were employed in #80 have fundamentally altered the character and personality of Mattew Michael Murdock?
The implications of Matt's resuscitation by The Hand were never addressed. Perhaps they will be in the near future. |

Indeed. In Daredevil Volume #1 #188-190, Stone does everything in his power to prevent The Hand from reviving Elektra from the dead. In fact, Stone was prepared to destroy Elektra's remains to prevent The Hand from reviving her. Stone clearly believed that Elektra's revival would prove disastrous. In other words, being resuscitated by The Hand likely does not bode well for the one who is resuscitated. Matthew Michael Murdock was resuscitated by The Hand. And now, coincidentally, he has become their puppet. |

This is an interesting theory...the way I read those events was that Matt was seriously wounded, but not mortally wounded. The situation was dire, but the Night Nurse would have been able to help him given more time. It was my understanding that The Hand simply sped up Matt's healing process as opposed to reviving him. If he wasn't actually revived by The Hand would he really fall under their 'conditioning' that is playing such a large roll in more recent issues (i.e. White Tiger)? _________________ https://twitter.com/tburnham7

Ninja: "I've done what I can do."
Elektra: 'And?"
Ninja: "I've done what I can do."
This exchange in DD Volume #1 #80 suggests that even The Hand was uncertain whether Matt could be resuscitated. Of course, Matt did revive shortly thereafter - and promptly surrendered to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The latter move in itself was out of character, given that DD had fled from law enforcement numerous times in the past (too numerous to mention, in fact). Of course, many other questions arise concerning #80. For example, why was Elektra - who we now know was a Skrull impostor - so committed to reviving Matt in the first place? [/quote] |

That theory is awesome, goodwork! Although Matt has done alot of goodwork since then (very unHand like) but maybe the hand were slowly corrupting him and awaiting their chance.
As with many of the Skrulls I think the Elektra skrull did not even know she was a Skrull until activated by the Invasion, so she would have continued to act Elektra-like in teh meantime. _________________ when walking just walk, when sitting just sit, above all don't wobble. |

I hadn't read issue 80 thinking that Matt had been mortally wounded either. So, very good point, Stephan.
Matt's had a screw or two loose for a while, and maybe that could be why he's finally come unhinged. I like it. _________________ Alice
