I think it's a great choice; it isn't my first choice, but I am rarely disappointed by his writing. Very excited if this is true. |

Inspired choice. I don't think anyone was expecting him. I've been a fan for a long time so I think it's great. Also like the artist. _________________ Andrew |

If it's Waid, then great! The only comic of his I read is Impulse but it's because I am a huge H.Ramos fan and not because of his writing. Not that I have anything to complain about. Impulse waas a hoot to read.
Oh, and I miss DD a bit too much that I wiil buy the book regardless of who the team is.
Please tell me he's getting the subtitle back from Black Panther. Or else, KM has a huge renovating to do with the site. _________________ "I'm only a DEVIL to those who are demonic." |

It's an interesting choice. It'll be interesting to read what direction the writer wants to take.
Fortunately, both the writer and the artist will be at Megacon next weekend. I will try and hit them up for information!

I'm hoping to see Waid at C2E2 tomorrow, but I'm sure he won't spill. |

If true, then this is fantastic news.
I've loved everything by Waid so far so I see no reason to doubt him this time. He brings the joy, the fun, the energy back to whatever comic he writes.
Sure, DD being gritty noir lately, Waid's not the most obvious choice for such, but hopefully this implies a change in focus for the character. Not so much dark and grim, but a balance back to a happier Matt. Couldn't ask for better than this. |

I am anxious to see Waid's take on DD. Waid is one of my favorite writers. I have been quiet here for the last several years because I haven't really been pleased with the DD title (still bought it like a good little completist).
You are correct, not a choice I saw coming, but Waid is good news. _________________ "One must think like a hero to merely behave like a decent human being." |

From Waid's intro on writing DD:
"Waid said the challenge of the series is that it's been consistently great. "It's going to stay gritty, and street level, but, with all due respect to the last ten years, it would be nice to finish an issue without feeling like I need a stiff drink," Waid said. There will be a bit more of the "superhero swashbuckler" angle than has been seen recently, Waid said."
