I was considering buying the trades for this so I was wondering what everyone's opinions are of this series. Good or Bad? Yea or Nay?

if your talking about the Bendis Ultimate collection i highly reccomend it as it's some of my favourite stories however one should only purchase it if they've read "Guardian Devil" and "Parts of a Whole" before (which makes sense since it leads into the Bendis stories). It also helps understand the motivations behind Matt's actions in the run.

If you're referring to Ultimate Daredevil and Elektra, by Greg Rucka and Salvador Larocca, I haven't been moved to reread it since I bought the issues back in the day. It's inevitable that it would be compared to the regular universe's version of the characters, and I think the Ultimate version comes off as so inconsequential. The stakes are so much lower.

Sorry for any confusion, but yes, I was referring to this. I don't read much of the Ultimate line so I was wondering how this version of the character stood up or what major changes, if any, were done.

From my understanding, the whole story takes place while Matt is still in college, just another angle of his early relationship with Elektra, correct?

the Ultimate one i read made the focus really heavy on Elecktra but above that it's okay. Not special or amazing but it's an okay read. Origin for her is different then 616 but Matt's is relatively the same only in the ultimate universe, Kingpin killed Jack Murdock as the backstory. And yes, you are correct it takes place at Columbia university.
