Just saw the movie a couple of hours ago. I thought it was the best of the X-men franchise. It would have been a good place to tie up the series, but we all know that they will beat this horse to death.
I actually enjoyed the movie and the story modifications better than the source material. Anybody else feel this way? |

This may contain a few spoilers. Sorry.
I thought as a movie this was very good but as part of a franchise it was very confusing. I left the movie with many questions that I expected the movie to answer. For example, how is the professor alive? It was never explained. He just showed up at the end of the wolverine. I figured the movie would answer this. It didn't and since there's a new xmen universe now this will most likely never be answered. This did not help the continuity mess xmen is already in. If I can forget about things like that, though, it was a good movie. Hopefully the new movies will answer some of these questions. I'm glad you liked it. |

I quite liked it too, and I also think it was one of the better x-men movies (which is not saying much because I think they were mostly terrible and do not age very good). But I also have to admit it had a plot which went all over the place and made little to no sense the more you think about it. It was really apparent that mystiques role was so big, because jennifer lawrence is such a huge star now. the powers of shadowcat were a mess, too - which can only be excused through suspension of disbelief. the only thing that I really hated logic-wise, was the fact that they needed mystiques DNA for the Sentinels. We see those robots imitate the powers of other mutants, even though the movies established long ago, that mystique only copies the looks not the powers itself. that seemed a lot like writers writing themselves in a corner, hoping noone would notice.
overall it was really convoluted and contradictory. maybe the next movie will answer some of the questions that came up during this one (like the whole adamantium-claw situation). But it was also very entertaining, well shot and never boring. so yeah, worth a watch!
overall I'd give it a 7/10 _________________ Deodorant Cant Fix Ugly. |
