Getting it in before Marvel have a load of Defenders collections returned with complaints that they are nothing like the show... |

Civil War II's art is beautiful, so David Marquez is fine with me. However, Brian Bendis and Marquez together is triggering PTSD.
Look, Bendis's run is less popular here than other places, but I at least appreciate what he did. On the other hand, it's a rare writer who can come back to a project a decade after he left. Certainly, End of Days gives me no hope whatsoever for this. On the other hand, his Jessica Jones so far seems fine to me. He's always been a Luke Cage fan and his Cage can be fine to a degree. But his indifference to current continuity mixed with the last time he wrote for Daredevil worries the hell out of me as a Daredevil fan. _________________ Matt Murdock's cooler twin brother

According to Bendis:
Quote: |
I wanted do a sprawling, Godfather-like epic at the street level of the Marvel Universe...really putting out hooks down and creating a modern, elaborate organized crime story that is different than what has gone before, but builds on everything that has happened to these characters, as individuals or as a team, and putting them in the hardest battle for the street that anyone can imagine. |
It's almost impossible to properly convey just how ill-equip Bendis is to deliver on a promise of this scope. Especially on what is essentially a tv tie in. The announcement was in the Hollywood Reporter for god's sake.
Expectations could not be lower. _________________ JC

If Bendis is writing it, I don't think I can read it. |

Also, I'm calling it first: best case scenario the first arc and worst case scenario the entire series will "focus" on a "who is the villain?" or "who is the secret ally?" mystery. We shall be reminded of said mystery in no fewer than half of the "cliff hangers" at the ends of the issues. The big reveal will be disappointing. _________________ JC

So Luke will be holier-than-thou, Jessica will be a mess, Matt will be sullen & Danny will have no discernible personality whatsoever... And Bendis will pretend that this is the way they've always been written. |

The Hollywoodization of Marvel Comics continues unabated.
Bendis writing DD again? Please, don't waste my time or money. |
