Issue Summary

Summary/Review by Michael Deeley

Foggy wants to buy a Daredevil costume to convince Karen page he really is Daredevil. He visits the shop of Melvin Potter, who suggests a clever ruse. Foggy, as Daredevil, should stage a fight with a phony super-villain. Foggy agrees, not knowing Potter will be the villain! Potter is jealous of superheroes and belives their powers lie with their costumes. He's secretly built an armored costume of his own. Armed with wrist-mounted buzzsaws, razor boots, and a gimmicked mask, Potter will become the infamous Gladiator!

Meanwhile, Matt Murdock is trying to think of the best way to expose Foggy's lie without hurting his pride. As Daredevil, he watches Foggy's apartment. After Foggy picks up his costume, DD follows him to Karen's apartment. Foggy takes Karen to a foggy dock where he means to fight a "supervillain".

When the Gladiator appears, Foggy goes into "action" as Daredevil! But just changing clothes and thinking of witty repartee proves more difficult than he thought. Foggy goes down in one blow, and Karen runs for help. The real Daredevil leaps into action, throwing punch after useless punch against the Gladiator's armored costume. It isn't until he finds an exposed spot on Gladiator's neck that he delivers a knockout blow. DD ducks out just as the police Karen called arrive. They see Foggy in his DD disguise get up. They, and the Gladiator, assume Foggy was Daredevil the whole time! Frustrated, Murdock decides to confront Foggy tomorrow and abandon the charade.
