Namor, the Sub-Mariner, Prince of Atlantis, is goaded into visiting the surface world by Krang, commander of the Undersea Legions. Krang wants Namor killed by humans so he may seize the throne of Atlantis. Namor goes to NYC looking for a lawyer to present a legal case for conquering the world! And guess which lawyer he chooses? Murdock explains why it would be impossible to sue the human race for possession of all land. There's no precedent, no evidence, no legal body that represents the entire world!
But the prince wants his day in court, and he'll get it anyway he can. Namor runs amok to get himself arrested. Daredevil fights him, but loses easily to his superhuman foe. Namor surrenders and ask Murdock & Nelson to represent him. The case doesn't get very far when Lady Dorma, Namor's consort, arrives with grave news. Krang has started a rebellion in Atlantis! Namor will not wait for his trail-his kingdom needs him!
As Daredevil, Murdock does everything he can to subdue the Avenging Son. He tries every acrobatic trick he knows, a wrecking ball, tons of rubble, and a million volts of electricity. It just slows Namor down! But Namor is impressed with Daredevil's fighting spirit. He quickly returns to the sea without any further incidents.
This issue is a classic for two reasons. First, it's the debut of DD's
famous all-red costume. Artist Wally Wood didn't think a Man Without Fear
should wear a costume with yellow, the color of fear. Second, it's one of
the most impressive fights in Marvel history. This is what makes
Daredevil so great. He's a fighter. More than any other superhero, he
absolutely will not quit no matter what. Even when the odds are
impossible, even when he's about to lose, he gives it his all. And for
someone technically handicapped, whose superpowers make him more sensitive
to the world around him, that's a hell of a feat!
