Issue Summary

Summary by Kevin Hollander

In the days and weeks following the collapse of the Kingpin's empire, lower level operatives have decided to take advantage of his absence. Case in point: cocaine addict Thomas "Trainwreck" Miller has decided to create a client base for himself with his drug of choice.

This has gained the attention of Daredevil. When Trainwreck learns that he is being followed by the devil himself, he ingests his "product" to hide any evidence. This makes him crazier than normal. His desperate efforts to escape Daredevil takes him on a wild chase through New York. This ultimately leads to an abandoned tenement where he eludes his crimson pursuer. He soon finds himself face-to-face with his employer The Owl. The Owl is greatly displeased with Trainwreck's failure and eviscerates him in retaliation. When Daredevil finds Trainwreck's remains, the state of the body prompts him to thinks that it is the work of a new serial killer.

Later at Worldwide Plaza, Matt and Foggy continue to set up their new law office. Foggy informs Matt of an impending case involving a Long Island man breeding German shepherd-wolf hybrids on the roof of his building. A community group has put him on retainer to investigate.

Elsewhere Ben Urich meets with Judith Gettings, the night coroner. He received a tip about Trainwreck's death and wants to ask her some questions. She shows him the corpse and explains that almost a dozen bodies have been brought in over the last two weeks with similar wounds. He later meets with Daredevil to relay the information. He explains that they are all members of the Kingpin's Hawk Hill Social Club. There is one remaining member of this group: Nino Cortese. Urich suggests that DD find him. He's either a lead or the next victim.

Daredevil finds Nino outside a local nightclub with two underage girls. His appearance scares the girls away, but he keeps Nino from escaping. During his interrogation, The Owl attacks them claiming to have an arrangement with Nino as well.

Daredevil's hypersenes detect several biological changes in Owlsley since their last encounter. Heartbeat in the hundreds. Body heat 10 degrees higher than normal. No perspiration. And worst of all, his metal talons have the distinctive scent of fresh blood.
