Living beneath the streets of New York City, the King leads a tribe of fellow sewer dwellers. After Vanessa Fisk survived a massive explosion at a construction site, she stumbled into the King's world and became his queen. Ben Urich later discovered Vanessa living in the sewers. Daredevil battled the King and won Vanessa's freedom. When Daredevil returned to the sewers years later, the King unleashed the Devourer, an other-dimensional creature that feeds on the flesh of humanity. After that plan failed, the King fought Daredevil once more - and once more, Daredevil defeated the King.
