Damon Dran organized Project Four, a government initiative to explore alternate energy sources. Dran, however, secretly plotted to steal the energy globe, the very device Project Four was creating. He hired Danny French to steal the globe . but French and his ally, the Black Widow, disappeared with it. Dran spent years trying to find them. He tracked French, the Black Widow and the energy globe to San Francisco. There, he fought Daredevil. As Dran experimented with the globe.s energy, his strength grew. In this and subsequent battles, his invulnerability always helped him escape death.
